Mission Opportunities

The Missions Committee leads Grace's efforts to reach out around the world and across the street to spread the love of Jesus to all. Both the spiritual and physical needs of God's people are served without regard to race, creed, nationality or gender. In this way, we bear witness to God's love for the world in Jesus Christ. We do this by giving of our time and talents and through financial support.

Grace, through God's provision, tithes to God's work in a variety of ways. Ministry funds come from congregational support of the church's general budget, as well as Pentecost, Peacemaking, Christmas Joy and One Great Hour of Sharing special offerings.

Around the World

Worldwide Mission projects include Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Church World Service and the Medical Benevolence Foundation.

Generous support was provided following the California wildfires, when an earthquake struck Bam, Iran and one year later when an earthquake/tsunami wrought devastation to countries in the Indian Ocean. Monetary support and a mission team was sent following Hurricane Katrina to the Gulf Coast region. Our Childrens & Youth departments sponsored a pancake breakfast with all funds going to Haiti Relief, and our Missions Committee matched all funds raised.

Across the Street

Locally, we assist the Military Outreach Ministry,  Tri-City Hospital Chaplain, participate in Vista ROC and actively support Operation HOPE, Vista's emergency homeless shelter. The Grace Church kitchen, that feeds the needy every Tuesday at Grace, fixes meals weekly for the shelter; the Grace/Methodist Church annual dinner/auction provides needed shelter funding. Grace helps Interfaith Community Services, Interfaith Shelter Network and various other local organizations provide needed services. Our Neighbors

Nearby, we are involved with the Friends of Los Ninos in Tijuana, Mexico in caring for orphans and abused children. Los Angelitos Orphanage is another orphanage in Tijuana that Grace provides basic supplies and funding. The love of Christ is clearly being shown through this mission. Baja Presbyterian Missions and Pueblos Hermanos work with Tijuana churches in a community health program, Salud y Vida. Opportunities exist for youths and adults to work with the churches of Baja California through these organizations.

Missionary Support

Through our five missionaries, Witnessing Ministries for Christ in India and The Amity Foundation in China, we minister to people in the areas of evangelism, medicine, literacy and theological education, letting them experience the peace and hope that comes through knowing Christ. Visiting missionaries have made us more aware of the dedication and effectiveness of the work they perform in His name. It has been through missionaries that the church worldwide has grown.
